The original title
The title "Mal de Pierres", in French, means "Evil Stones" or "Stone Ache". In the context of the novel, it refers to the protagonist's kidney stones.
From Italy to France
In the novel, the action takes place in Sardinia (Italy). But, while the film is set in France, takes place in Provence, the French coastal town of La Ciotat, the Swiss alps and Lyon.
