Plot

From the Clouds to the Resistance' is a film directed by Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub, and the film was part of the Un Certain Regard of the Cannes Film Festival in 1979. It is an experimental work that contains a high intellectual tone as it gets into the intricacies of history (resistance) where they found out that history only has meaning and justification if we accepted that it has roots in the Greek mythology (the cloud). It is a film that uses language tools such as repetition and is divided into two segments: A first one that adapts some of the stories of the 'Dialogues with Leucó (dialogues where the gods and heroes of Greek mythology discuss nature, man, destiny or pain) and a second part where they adapted another novel from Pavese, 'The Moon and Bonfires' (a symbolic story about an emigrant who returns to his village and makes and internal dialogue about the impossibility to return to the origin, to know our real name or to find our place in the world).
