Plot
This documentary directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, shows us Olfa Hamrouni, a Tunisian woman who, in 2016, lost two of her four daughters when they joined ISIS in Libya.
To represent the painful family tragedy and the absence of the daughters, the director uses fiction and documentary resources in a hybrid way. Along with professional actors, the film unites the real protagonists and the interpreters of the missing sisters.
Between reality and representation, this tough game somehow serves as a catalyst for Olfa's great repressed emotions for so long. The director of this documentary manages to denounce the forms of patriarchal violence in her country and reflects on the treatment of these issues in audiovisual representation.
This true story made into a film won the Golden Eye award for best documentary at the Cannes Festival and is nominated for the European Film Awards.
The film is also about adolescence, about that abyss between childhood and adulthood where one seeks to experience new things, even the idea of ??death. What stands out about this story is that it is about women, a mother and her daughters, since at this time similar situations were commonly occurring.
The acting cast includes: Nour Karoui, Tayssir Chikhaoui, Eya Chikhaoui and Majd Mastoura.
