Plot
'Food for Profit' is the first documentary to expose the connection between the meat industry, pressure groups and power brokers. For 90 minutes, he denounces how Europe transfers hundreds of billions of taxpayers' taxes to intensively farmed farmers, who mistreat animals, pollute the environment and represent a potential risk for future pandemics .
With a cinematic approach for an investigative documentary, Giulia Innozenci and Pablo D'Ambrosi take us on a revealing and moving journey through Europe, where they confront farmers, companies and politicians. His research team infiltrated farms in several European countries, uncovering the truth behind the supposed excellence of European dairy and meat products. At the same time, a fictitious agri-food pressure group has infiltrated the upper echelons of the European Parliament, secretly recording MEPs and obtaining alarming information.
The docufilm not only uncovers the horror of intensive farming and the associated political corruption, but, with the help of a group of international experts, addresses and analyzes the numerous problems related to industrial agriculture: from from water pollution to the exploitation of immigrants, and from biodiversity loss to antibiotic resistance.
