A man who is bored with his life and with the society, can not sleep. When the doctor doesn't prescribe anything for the insomnia, attends a self-help meeting to overcome cancer, and that night he sleep peacefully. Thus begins to attend self-help meetings almost every day.

On a plane trip, he knows Tyler Durden, a seller of soap with a very clear idea about life and society. Soon the protagonist will move to Tyler's house, who lives in an abandoned house, and discover that they share a similar ideology about life and society in which they live.

In a fight between them in the back of a bar that often made to ease tensions of them day to day, a group of onlookers come and join them. The fights go from the back of the bar to the basement of the bar, and there founded the fight club, which a large number of people that quickly joined.
