Encanto

Jared Bush ('Zootopia'), Charise Castro Smith ('The Haunting of Hill House') and Byron Howard ('Tangled') are the directors of the new Walt Disney Animation Studios film: 'Encanto'. The movie has Colombia as its main location. The plot surrounds a family in which every member has magical powers. Every member, except for one: the little girl who is the star of the film. Bush and Castro Smith pen the script. Lin-Manuel Miranda also contributed to the story. "It?s a story about how people closest to us, especially family members, don?t always see who we are or really understand us. And similarly, we don?t let the people we love see who we are. Our story tells how a child, a member of a family, feels that her family doesn?t know her; but in the end she learns to know her whole family and ultimately to know herself (...) Mirabel we are all (...) No matter who you are or what you?ve accomplished in life, there?s always someone who does better or has gone further" Bush explains. "We thought it was great to tell a story where there were not just two protagonists, but a large extended family. We wanted to pay tribute and also try to understand how complex dynamics work in large families. How well do we know our families? How well do they know us?" Howard adds.
