Empire of Light

'Empire of Light' is a drama about the power of human connection in hard times. The film, set in an old and forgotten cinema in a seaside town in England in the early 1980s, tells the story of Hilary (Olivia Colman), a film director who goes through a phase where she suffers from health-related problems, and Stephen (Micheal Ward), a new employee who wants to escape this environment where he has to deal with adversity on his daily life. Both Hilary and Stephen find a sense of belonging through their strange but beautiful and cute relationship and get to experience the healing power of music, film and a sense of community.

Besides Olivia Colman and Micheal Ward, the main cast of 'Empire of Light' is made up of Tom Brooke, Tanya Moodie, Hannah Onslow, Crystal Clarke, Toby Jones and Colin Firth.

Oscar winner Sam Mendes, director of 'American Beauty', 'Revolutionary Road', 'Skyfall', '1917', 'Away We Go' and 'Road to Perdition' among other films, directs and writes 'Empire of Light'.

Pippa Harris p.g.a., Sam Mendes p.g.a. produce the film, Michael Lerman and Julie Pastor are executive producers and Celia Duval and Lola Oliyide are co-producers.
