Plot
'Elton John: Never Too Late' is a Disney+ documentary that covers the most successful years of the musician Elton John, who quickly rose to fame in the 1970s. Between 1970 and 1975, in just five years, Elton released a total of thirteen different studio albums, seven of which reached the number one on the music charts. His overwhelming success led him to become the first solo artist in history to fill a stadium, specifically Dodger Stadium.
Despite being at the top, Elton felt depressed. He couldn't find his place in the world even though his greatest desire since childhood was to be a musician. Already at the peak of his career, he was focused on composing and taking drugs without understanding what was happening to him. Later, as the artist tells in 'Elton John: Never Too Late', he would realize that he was gay, a fact that helped him understand a large part of himself. Another key element for his career was his loved ones and his family.
The title, directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, features archival footage and interviews with various interviewees (such as Dua Lipa) to understand this phase of Elton John's career. It also highlights the appearance of the John Lennon, who performed with him on stage several times.
