'Eli' trivia and fun facts
We knew it from the beginning
A billboard early in the movie reads "Proverbs 19:9 The false witness will not go unpunished and he who tells lies shall perish" foreshadowing what will happen to the adults who lied to Eli.
Macabre Omen
The doors to the medical wing show a pattern of upside down crosses alluding to a sign of the devil. At the end of the movie, Eli turns Dr. Horn and the nurses into human upside down crosses.
Inspiration in terror
Dr. Horn's former patients are named after characters in horror films: Perry Hobbes after Detective Hobbes in Fallen (1998), Agnes Thorne after Damien Thorn in La profecía (1976) and Lucius Woodhouse after Rosemary Woodhouse in La semilla del diablo (1968).
It is not any name
There is a reason that the screenwriter has chosen that the child be called Eli. "El" means God or spirit in Aramaic and the suffix "I" means mine, my god.
Short but intense
The film took three months to shoot and the leading actor, Charlie Shotwell, was only 10 years old.
Change of ownership
Initially the task of distribution of this film was for Paramount, but having no clear how to manage it, Netflix acquired the rights for it and premiered it in different countries through the platform.
Every name makes sense
The name of Eli's mother, Rose, also has a meaning beyond. It is an allusion to Rosemary Woodhouse of The Seed of the Devil (1968), whose son was also the son of Satan.
