Plot
In June 1816 the frigate, the Alliance, of the French Navy, ran aground on a sandbank off the coast of Senegal. Since attempting to release the hull is futile, there is no other option but to abandon the ship. Since the available boats are not enough to fit the entire crew, a raft is manufactured with a length of approximately 12 meters and a width of approximately 6. In this very unstable boat, 147 people must climb: soldiers, sailors, several passengers and several officers. The ship?s evacuation plan provides for the boats to crawl ashore. In spite of this, panic and chaos catch the convoy trying to reach the shore. Finally, the boats lose communication with the raft. The tow rope snaps or someone rips it apart. The boats leave the raft to their fate, which is carried by the current, thus disappearing on the horizon. 'El vientre del mar' is a Spanish film, based on actual facts, directed by Agustí Villaronga ('Tras el cristal'). The cast of the film includes the actors Marc Bonnin, Armando Buika, Roger Casamajor, Muminu Diayo, Òscar Kapoya. The feature film has been awarded with 6 awards at the Malaga Film Festival, including Biznaga de Oro to Best Film and Biznaga de Plata to Best Director, Best Music, Best Script, Best Photography 'Deluxe Prize'...
