El plan

Three childhood friends convene in one of their flats to execute a mysterious plan, but their masks and armour will crumble as each one of them struggles to handle the problems that arise in their ploy.

Three unemployed men that are living sad and monotonous lives cling to intangible desires and a somewhat archaic way of looking at the world. After the redundancy plan put in place by their former company kicks in, it is very difficult for them to re-build their lives and pursue different careers in their forties. 'The plan' is a tragicomedy of manners about modern Spanish society that shows how the characters open up and fall apart whilst they wait for their car, an integral tool in this elusive plan, to be repaired.

'The plan' is a comedy film edged with drama starring the award-winning actors Antonio de la Torre ('El reino', 'Que Dios nos perdone'), Raúl Arévalo ('La isla mínima', 'Pain and Glory') and Chema del Barco (who has participated in the third season of 'The Footprint of Crime' of the Portuguese cinematographer and director Pedro Costa). The film is directed by Polo Menárguez and earned a place in the Official Section of the Valladolid Festival in 2019. With cinematography by Alejandro Espadero, this film subverts expectations about human behavior and prejudices.
