Plot
'El pisito' was one of the most characteristic Spanish films in the history of Spain. In the Madrid of the late fifties, with a Spain that is barely beginning to emerge from underdevelopment, economic hardships are frequent among the country's population. Petrita (Mary Carrillo) and Rodolfo (José Luis López Vázquez) have been dating for twelve years, but cannot marry due to lack of means to acquire a home. Petrita will finally come up with a solution: Rodolfo will marry Doña Martina, her elderly and sick homemaker, so that when she dies she will inherit the rental contract on the property at a low price, being able to stay there to live with Petrita. After the ceremony, however, the old woman will still be able to survive two long years that for Rodolfo will be eternal. Finally Doña Martina will die and so Petrita and Rodolfo see their goal fulfilled. But what should be a happy moment ends up with real pessimism, since sadness reigns in the environment.
'El pisito' was directed in 1959 by Marco Ferreri and Isidoro M. Ferry under the script of the illustrious Rafael Azcona, based on a homonymous novel written by himself. A true masterpiece that was added to Azcona's long list of acid films, fundamental in the history of spanish cinema.
