Plot
During your stay there, you will learn the story of Antoni Benaiges, played by Enric Auquer, a young teacher from Tarragona who before the war was his grandfather's teacher. Through an innovative pedagogical method Antoni inspired his students and made them a promise: to take them to see the sea.
In this drama of Catalan origin, Enric Auquer (Goya winner for 'Quien a Hiero Matas') and Laia Costa (Goya winner for 'Cinco Lobitos') share a cast with Luisa Gavasa, Ramón Agirre, Milo Taboada and newcomers Gael Aparicio , Alba Hermoso and Nicolás Calvo, among others.
It interweaves past and present through two plots that build a story about memory and the importance of not letting our recent history fall into oblivion. The plot of Ariadna highlights the struggle of so many people who are still searching for their relatives buried anonymously in mass graves after the civil war, while that of Antoni Benaiges pays tribute to the republican teachers and the courage and strength they transmitted in a time of so much struggle.
The film is based on the book 'Unearthing the Silence: Antoni Benaiges, the teacher who promised the sea' by Francesc Escribano (Editorial Blume) and has been adapted to the big screen by Albert Val, the director of the film. He has tried to be loyal to the original story and choose the correct actors to give life to the main characters.
