El Efecto Darma

Jon is a young aspiring filmmaker who decides to shoot an action movie with the help of his friends. During filming, Jon will meet Darma, a mysterious new co-worker. From the first moment, Jon realizes that Darma is unique and that he will inevitably end up falling in love with her.

'El efecto Darma' is a story whose main theme is love. But also the cinema, friendship and the importance of pursuing our dreams. It is set in the 2000s, more specifically in 2002. The J.L. Rojas shows us the life of a group of young people and their passion for the seventh art, despite the difficulties and lack of means they encounter when wanting to record a film.

This production is influenced by films like 'Lost in Translation', 'Cashback', 'La nuit américaine' or 'Bowfinger'. As indicated by the Spanish Film Academy: "the story of 'The Darma Effect' is an ode to cinema. Full of movie references and set in a time when the digital world began to win the battle against the analog world".

This movie is written and directed by José Luis Rojas, starred by Álvaro Lucas and Dunia Rodríguez. The cast is formed by AlbaTissera, Alberto Lucero, Gonzalo Validiez, Elena Foronda, Delia Seriche, Paula Motoso, Nadal Bin, Andrea Veguez, Néstor Circolone, Aldara Fernández and Dani Jaén. The main musical theme of the movie, titled 'Cosmic Lovers' is composed by Rebeca Nayla with voice and lyrics of Dunia Rodríguez. A production of Molonko Films and Kante Producciones.
