Plot
Monk Maximilian Kolbe was a Polish priest who was a prisoner in Auschwitz on 1941. When three captives fled from the field visits, commander announced ten prisoners would starve to death in a bunker as an example for any future escape attempts. When one of the chosen ones screamed for his children and his wife, Kolbe volunteered to take his place and died instead of the father of a family. Later, Kolbe was proclaimed martyr and saint by John Paul II. This film explores the less known aspects of the priest's life, his labour as an inventor, his childhood and his work as a missionary, apart from the creation of the Militia of the Immaculata. 'Dwie Korony' puts together documentary and fiction to build a unique portrait of this monk known for giving his life for someone else's.
