The director Colin Rothbart removed wigs and makeup to let us know the real people behind the scenes of transvestism of East London. Tape up the baton as 'Paris Is Burning' or 'The Cockettes', Rothbart chronicles the rise and subsequent decline of gay clubs in that area of London, besides offering a portrait after six real people interact with them for a time span of five years. The excesses, hardship, emotions, etc., of a collective so beaten up socio-culturally attractive. Thanks to the filmmaker human value printed on his images, we understand that the values of these six people are so universal and shared as any of us.
