'Despite the Falling Snow' it's a romantic thriller directed by Shamim Sarif, based on the novel that the director herself wrote in 2004.

Set in the late 50s during the Cold War arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union, a communist named Katya (Rebecca Ferguson) becomes a spy for the US government. In his mission to get first hand information from the promising Soviet politician Alexander (Sam Reid), with whom she will have an unexpected and intense romance. She must then choose between following orders from the US government or the feelings that her heart dictates, seeking to reconcile between her love for Alexander and her ideological beliefs, that will take her to make a sacrifice that her lover will discover thirty years from then after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
