Rights of Man

A circus troupe arrives in the Castilian town of San Román de Hornija, where they pitch their tent and get ready to perform. In this traditional Castilian locale, the troupe start their own adventure, preparing to make many long-awaited changes to the style of their show in an attempt to change the way that society treats them. However, as showtime draws ever nearer, discussions about the many virtues of the town, from the greatness of the landscape to the simplicity of the native architecture as well as about the show itself rage, and after some evaluation, they end up agreeing to adhere to the original script.

The movie, which follows the circus group as they attempt to wow the citizens of this small town, plays into utopian aspects of the art that the main characters embrace (the businessman/master of ceremonies, the fortune-teller, the bearded woman, the impressionist, etc.). The "Great Indomitable Circus", the name of the group formed by six artists who come from different branches of the stage arts, have faith in their own strengths and in their new show, the title of which is shared by the movie.

'Rights of Man' strives to do justice to its theme and its characters both through the story and its efforts to bring the incredibly intricate circus acts to the big screen.
