Plot
'Dear Evan Hansen' is a musical film based on the Broadway original play, winner of a Tony Awards in 2017 as Best Musical, as well as Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Sctore or Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical amongst others. As in the original play, the movie will be starred by Ben Platt, and the film produced by his father's company, Marc Platt Productions, in collaboration with Universal Pictures.
Stephen Chbosky ('Wonder') will be the director of the film, with a book by Steven Levenson and music by Benj Pask and Justin Paul, creators of 'La La Land'. The cast includes Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, Danny Pino, Kaitlyn Denver, Nick Dodani and Amandia Stenberg.
'Dear Evan Hansen' is the story of Evan Hansen, a timid teenager with anxiety which live changes when a high school classmate, Connor Murphy, commits suicide. Evan tries to use this tragic event for his own good, accidentally letting people think Connor wrote him a letter which he originally wrote to himselft. Soon, Evan begins to visit Connor Murphy's family and finds in them the family he whishes he had. However, things turn for a worse when secrets begin to be revealed.
The production of the movie will take place in the fall of 2020 on location in Los Angeles, California, and Atlanta, Georgia. The movie brings some changes from the play, as a new character, Olvier, a new friend of Zoe Murphy. Larry Murphy, which in the play is the dad of the childen, is now the stepdad.
