Plot
Dawson City: Frozen Time tells the story of how 533 film reels dating back to the end of the 19th century were found buried underground in an old un-used swimming pool. The reels were discovered back in 1978 when workers were digging up the land to make way for a new recreational centre in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada.
Dawson was previously a mining city, and it is thought that the old films, once viewed by the mining community residing there, were left un-used. With no other use, the reels were buried underground, only to be discovered more than 100 years later.
All of the works found are silent films, and many were thought to be lost in history.
Dawson City: Frozen Time not only compiles these lost films but also revels in their rediscovery.
