Cry Macho

From director and producer Clint Eastwood, 'Cry Macho' is a poignant drama about Mike Milo, once a rodeo star and horse breeder. We are in the year 1979 and Milo accepts a very peculiar job from a former boss: bringing his young son, Rafo, to the United States from Mexico. This strange couple is forced to take all the back roads on their way to Texas on a journey that will prove more challenging than they bargained for. During the journey, the former rider will find in the young man an unexpected connection and his own sense of redemption through Mexican culture and a reworking of his worldview that will make him question his own upbringing.

The film stars Eastwood himself alongside Eduardo Minett in his film debut. The cast is completed by Natalia Traven as Marta, with Dwight Yoakam as Mike, Howard Polk, Fernanda Urrejola as Leta and Horacio García-Rojas ('Narcos: México') as Aurelio. The script is signed by Nick Schenk and N. Richard Nash, based on a novel by Nash himself. The story has been hanging around the studios for years and Eastwood himself refused to do it in 1988 to reprise Dirty Harry in 'The Dead Pool'. In 2003 Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to star in an adaptation that was canceled due to a personal scandal of the actor.
