Plot
After marrying the charming and seductive Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston), young Edith (Mia Wasikowska) finds herself swept away to his remote gothic mansion in the English hills. Also living there is Lady Lucille (Jessica Chastain), Thomas' alluring sister and protector of her family's dark secrets. Able to communicate with the dead, Edith tries to decipher the mystery behind the ghostly visions that haunt her new home. As she comes closer to the truth, Edith may learn that true monsters are made of flesh and blood.
Guillermo del Toro writes and directs this terrifying film in which also appear Charlie Hunnam, Doug Jones, Burn Gorman, Leslie Hope, Sofia Wells, Javier Botet and Jim Beaver.

Though the house was built in its entirety, it had to be torn down at the end of the shoot in order to make space in the studio.
Universal wants to release the film around Halloween, and since he wouldn't finish the film until December 2014 or January 2015, the release date had to be set for October 2015.
Guillermo del Toro says this is the best set he's ever worked on.
