Crimes of the Future

Twenty-second feature film directed by acclaimed Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg, which was presented in the Official Selection of the 75th edition of the Cannes International Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation that lasted six minutes. The film shares a title with another film directed by Cronenberg in 1970, 'Crimes of the Future', although it is not a remake nor is its plot related to 1970 film, coinciding only in the title. It marks the filmmaker's return to science fiction and horror since 'eXistenZ', released in 1999, 23 years earlier.

As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrated performance artist, publicly displays the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances with his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux).

Timlin (Kristen Stewart), a researcher for the National Organ Registry, obsessively follows his movements. That's when a mysterious group appears: they want to take advantage of Saul's fame to reveal to the world the next stage of human evolution...
