Plot
German film 'Crescendo' gets inspiration from the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, a project created by musician Daniel Barenboim and philosopher Edward Said in 1999. This orchestra is formed by Israel, Palestinian and Arabic youngsters and has the goal to build bridges and analyze the conflict between Palestine and Israel. The story follows Edward Sporck (Peter Simonischek), a world famous orchestra director who takes the challenge of creating a youth orchestra with girls and boys from those territories, but the long lasting conflict and continuous threats make it very hard for them to bond. To the point that two groups are formed, both of them with promising violinists as leaders. The Palestinian has Layla (Sabrina Amali) as leader, and the Israeli has Ron (Daniel Donskoy). For Eduard Sporck a countdown starts, one that will last three weeks with the concert that would present the orchestra. To make things even more difficult, the project will face the political forces from the opposition. Will he be able to build bridges between this teens or will the project fail? 'Crescendo' is directed by Dror Zahavi, who already has a film about the Palestine-Israel conflict: 'For My Father'. This film has as its leit motiv "make music, not war".
