Plot
Documentary film about the Tallahassee (Florida) Unified Family Court that specializes in court cases involving minors. This is the only court in the United States that deals with matters related to children and parents. Families are summoned to this court when they are accused of abuse, abandonment or neglect with respect to minors.
The purpose of this court under the Law is to reunite families as quickly and safely as possible. The film is inspired by the words of James Baldwin: "If you really want to know how justice is administered in a country, you go to the unprotected and listen to their testimony." This is
one of the only courts in the United States that works for rehabilitation, although not always successfully.
Directed by Antonio Méndez Esparza ('Life and nothing else', 'Here and there'), he is pursuing the idea of ??the defenselessness of the citizen before the justice systems, fair or unfair. In 'Courtroom 3h' attention is focused on the accused persons, anonymous characters, people who to a certain extent belong to the institutional machinery, instead of objectifying it to give soul to the machine. It was presented at the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2020 as a nominee for the Golden Shell for best film.
