Comuneros

Documentary feature film that narrates the events that took place in the Crown of Castile around the year 1521, known as the War of the Communities, and the influence that these events exerted throughout subsequent history.

'Comuneros' has been directed by Pablo García Sanz and written by Carlos Belloso, Nerea Mugüerza and Pablo García Sanz himself. On the other hand, it is produced by Plan Secreto and Visual Creative Producción Audiovisual. Its distribution in Spain will be in the hands of #ConUnPack Distribución.

The film has been shot mainly in Valladolid, specifically in Villalar de los Comuneros, where the battle that ended with the defeat of the Comuneros took place. The crew also had to move between Medina del Campo, Segovia, Valladolid, Salamanca, Madrid and Toledo, as well as England and the United States.

The film includes interviews with the director of the General Archive of Simancas, Julia Teresa Rodríguez, and the professor of the University of León and PhD in History Salvador Rus Rufino. It also introduces animated recreations of historical events that are interspersed with the filmed images. These animations have been made by the illustrator Sandra Rilova from Burgos.
