Cocoon

Nora (Lena Urzendowsky) is a shy 14-year-old girl living in Berlin. During one extremely hot summer, she begins to get to know herself better and undergoes a personal revolution, thanks to the cultural diversity of the people she surrounds herself with. In those months, she falls in love with another girl, Romy (Jella Haase), learns to stand up for herself, gets her first period and gets her heart broken for the first time. It has received several awards, including Best International Film and Best Female Performance at the Iris Prize LGTBQ+FF 2020, as well as the Best Soundtrack Award at the Immaginaria International Women's Film Festival 2021.

Its director, Leonie Krippendorff, has been included by variety magazine as one of the top 10 talents to watch out for in 2020. This is the second feature film by the filmmaker, who debuted with 'Looping' in 2016. In addition to Uzendowsky and Haase, the cast is completed by Lena Klenke as Jule, Elina Vildanova as Aylin, Franz Hagn as Rudi, Anja Schneider as Vivienne and Kim Riedle as Frau Novak. It was produced by Jost Hering Filme, ZDF/Das kleine Fernsehspiel, Junger Deutscher Film, Medienboard Berlin-Brendeburg and Deutschern Filmförderfons (DFFF). In Spain it will be distributed by Barton Films.
