Clara sola

At 40 years old, Clara is convinced that she has a special connection with God. She is a kind of healer who holds her men above hers, not only her family, but a people in need of hope. After years of excessive control by her mother's repressive care, Clara's sexual desires are aroused by a strong attraction to her niece's new boyfriend as she finds solace in her relationship with nature. The force that is unleashed in her takes Clara to uncharted territory, which allows her to cross new physical and metaphysical frontiers, mythical we could say. Clara gradually frees herself from her role as an empowered saint in self-discovery and finally begins to heal herself.

'Clara Sola' is the feature debut by Nathalie Álvarez Mesén, a Costa Rican-Swedish screenwriter and director, who also co-wrote 'Entre tú y Milagros', winner of the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. After her feature film debut , Álvarez Mesén is developing a new film titled 'The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands' at Torino ScriptLab 2021.

'Clara Sola' stars dancer Wendy Chinchilla Araya, Daniel Castañeda Rincón, Ana Julia Porras Espinoza and Flor María Vargas Chaves. It is a co-production between Costa Rica, Sweden, Belgium and Germany.
