Plot
The film is set in the city of London during the 18th century, 'Casanova, the Last Love' tells the story of Giacomo Casanova. This man arrives to the capital of the United Kingdom from Paris after being forcibly exiled at the age of 45. A man known for his love of pleasure and games, Casanova gives free rein to his passions and finds himself on more than one occasion with a young prostitute named Marianne de Charpillon. Casanova begins to feel a mysterious attraction for Marianne and he begins to act against everything that he has ever believed in and all that he is: he ignores the rest of women. The mythical seducer is willing to do anything to win Marianne, but she always slips out of his grasp and evades his attractions. Charpillon rejects Casanova as no one has done before and deeply impacts him with her words, saying: "You will only have me if you stop desiring me". Marianne doesn't just want Casanova's desire: she wants his love.
The film is directed and co-written by Benoît Jacquot ('Farewell', 'My Queen'). The actor responsible for bringing Casanova to life on screen is Vincent Landon ('La ley del mercado', 'Cruzando el límite') whereas Stacy Martin ('Nymphomaniac', 'Le Redoutable') will take on the role of Marianne de Charpillon.
