Carmilla

Set during the Victorian era, teenage Lara (Hannah Rae) is the only child of a wealthy and distant father (Greg Wise) who spends most of her time alone in her country house with only her strict, pious governess Miss Fontaine (Jessica Raine) for company. Miss Fontaine is God-fearing and often harsh and believes that Lara's left-handedness is a sign of the devil. One night, a coach crashes close to Lara's residence, killing the coachman but leaving one survivor - a young and mysterious girl named Carmilla (Devrim Lingnau), who is taken in by Lara's household to recover from the accident. Whilst Miss Fontaine is suspicious and mistrusting of the girl, Lara is quickly infatuated by her curious presence and flaming red hair. Carmilla's presence in the old house coincides with several unusual and supernatural happenings - death and mania and dark, disturbing dreams. When a terrified Miss Fontaine turns to local doctor (Tobias Menzies), he suggests that Carmilla may be a vampire. Despite this revelation, Lara is determined that nothing will tear the two of them apart, but it's not long until the world turns against her and the strange, supernatural girl.
