Plot
A native of Mexico, Carlos Santana learned to play the violin at the age of 5, while at 8, he developed a passion and enthusiasm for the great love of his life: the guitar. At the age of 14, Santana began using his virtuoso guitar playing talent to work as a street musician and create his own band as a teenager. At the age of 22 he managed to unleash the madness at the Woodstock festival in 1969 and before his first album was acclaimed. This documentary features new interviews with Carlos' family as well as never-before-seen footage of the artist, including behind-the-scenes, concert and home videos. Two-time Emmy Award winner Rudy Valdez creates a rich and intimate documentary about a man whose sound enchants fans around the world.
Carlos Santana is one of the music industry's greatest legends. With a career spanning 50 years and winning ten Grammys, Santana continues to be one of the most visible faces of a sound that blends blues, jazz and the sound of mariachis into a heartfelt and spiritual rock. The documentary is produced by Imagine Documentaries and Sony Music Entertainment and will air globally in theaters on September 23, 24 and 27, with a general release on September 29. In Spain it will be released in theaters on September 22.
