Captain Corelli's Mandolin

In the middle of the Second World War, Italy allies with Germany to conquer the Greece's territories. An Italian officer, the Captain Corelli (Nicolas Cage) leaders an artillery garrison to control the remote Greek island called Cephallonia. However, the Captain adopts an attitude of mutual and pacific co-existence on the island. Corelli installs in the house of a local doctor (John Hurt), who lives with his beautiful daughter Pelagia (Penélope Cruz). Cage will be in love with the character of Cruz, in spite of the relationship that she has with Mandras (Christian Bale), the Pelagia's fiancee and a local fisherman. Nevertheless, their love will be very difficult because of the war and the mission of the Captain Corelli.
