Plot
'Capharnaum' is a drama, set on the city of the same name, directed by the lebanese filmmaker and actress Nadine Labaki ('Sukkar banat'). The movie tells the story of Zain (Zain al Rafeea), a 12 year old kid. Zain is making a statement in front of the International Tribunal of his country, the reason, the little kid is suing his parents. When the judge asks him why he is making suck a strange accusation the child answers: "For giving me a life".
The film shows the harsh life conditions of the lebanese citizens, as well as the cruel reality that takes place everyday on the Lebanon, but on the entire Near East.
'Capharnaum' received three awards during its time in the Cannes Film Festival, the Jury Prize, the Prix de la citoyenneté and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. Director, Nadine Labaki, was nominated for the Palm d'Or.
