Plot
The film returns to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood and served as a location of the original 'Candyman'. The movie is supposed to be a "spiritual sequel" of the homonymous 1992's film, according to the creators team.
Among these creators some names highlights, for example the director and writer Jordan Peele ('Get out', 'Us'), which is confirmed to be one writer and producer. At the task of writing the script he will be accompanied by Win Rosenfield ('The Last Original Gangster', 'The Twilight Zone'). The director's chair will be for novel Nia DaCosta ('Little Woods', 'Top Boy'). The expectations of the film are high: in Jordan Peele's words: "the intention is to be respectful to the original material but also bringing it up to the present. The movie is very important in my cinephile formation, and I hope it brings out fans in the future".
Its cast is formed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II ('The Get Down', 'The Greatest Showman'), Tony Todd ('Drive Me to Vegas and Mars', 'The Debt Collector'), Teyonah Parris ('If Beale Street Could Talk', 'Survivor's Remorse'), Colman Domingo ('Fear the Walking Dead', 'If Beale Street Could Talk') and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett ('Four Weddings and a Funeral', 'The Kid Who Would Be King'), among others.
