Break a leg

'Break a leg' is a documentary directed by filmmaker Alba Sotorra ('El retorno. La vida después del ISIS'), who also co-writes it with David Arnanz. The title, funded by Radio Televisión Española, the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, and Movistar Plus+, among others, delves into the historic 1975 Spanish actors' strike.

On February 4, thousands of performers from the theater collective joined the movement seeking a reduction of working hours for their profession. The strike lasted a week, which was filled with political tension. During those days, no rehearsals took place, no films or series were shot, and many plays were not performed, as the directors of the moment also supported their actors. However, several members of the negotiation committee were detained, but in the end, an agreement was reached.

'Break a leg' brings together several actors and actresses who experienced the event to share their perspectives and explain its importance and historical value: Sara Montiel, Lola Flores, Juan Diego, Concha Velasco, Rocío Dúrcal, Juan Margallo, and Petra Martínez are just some of the names featured in the documentary, which premieres on February 7 in several Spanish cinemas.
