Born a Champion

'Born a Champion' is an American Drama directed by Alex Ranarivelo, written by Ranarivelo with Sean Patrick Flanery, which also stars in the film. The movie has a limited release in the United States in the beginning of 2021, before switching to video on demand distribution.

The plot is centered around the martial art of jiu-jitsu. The main character, Mickey Kelly (Flanery) is an expert fighter in this art. In a trip to Dubai for a seminar, he meets on the airplane the woman who will become his wife, Layla. Once there, he is invited to a tournament where he wins all the fights expect the one against Mason Blaine, which ends his career with an eye injury.

Time has passed and now Mikey is a dad who tries to keep problems away. However, word gets out of the ilegal tactics Blaine used in the past to win against him, and Blaine's manager proposes a new fight between Kelly and Blaine as a rematch.

The main cast of 'Born a Champion' consists of Dennis Quaid as Mason Blaine, whereas Katrina bowden is Layla, Kelly's wife. Maurice Compte, Currie Graham, Costas Mandylor, Reno Wilson and Ali Afshar also work in the film. The movie is Flanery's ode to jiu-jitsu, and that is the main point critics highlighted of it.
