Plot
Documentary that follows a young Basquiat before jumping to fame and shows how the city of New York, the times, the people and the movements that develop around him end up turning him into the artist. The director traces her steps using never before seen works, writings and photographs together with statements of friends and other artists that emerged in that same time as Jim Jarmusch, James Nares, Fab Five Freddy, Glenn O'Brien or Kenny Scharf, among others.
Based on their memories and anecdotes, the film also uses footage of the time, as well as images or music to recreate the atmosphere of a New York prior to sexually transmitted diseases or President Reagan, the city before the change of the 1980s.
