Plot
Molly (Beanie Feldstein, 'Ladybird') and Amy (Kaitlyn Dever, 'Beautiful Boy'), high-school overachievers in the final weeks of their senior year, have worked tirelessly to perfect their GPAs and gain admission to good colleges. They sacrificed partying and any hope of an extensive social life to do so, figuring that it was the only way to come out on top. When Molly finds out that her classmates have studied less, partied more and still got into these reputable institutions, she feels as though she's been cheated of having fun in high school. On graduation night, she convinces Amy to go out and let loose for one wild night before they part ways, Molly to Yale and Amy to volunteer in Botswana, by attending a party housed by the senior class' vice president, Nick (Mason Gooding, 'Ballers'). It will be a night full of crashing parties, getting into antics with rich kids Gigi (Billie Lourd, 'American Horror Story') and Jared (Skyler Gisondo, 'Vacation'), pursuing their crushes and some ill-advised experimentation with hallucinogenics.
'Booksmart' is directed by actress-director Olivia Wilde ('House') and was written by Emily Halpern ('Carol's Second Act'), Sarah Haskins ('Trophy Wife', Susanna Fogel ('Chasing Life') and Katie Silberman ('Set it Up').
