Bienvenido Mr. Banksy

At the end of August 2017, in a neighbourhood of Ferrol (Galicia, Spain), the promoter of the festival Las Meninas de Canido, Eduardo Hermida, made a worldwide call in the press: he wanted Banksy, the most mediatic graffiti artist in the world, to participate that year in the festival, to create a mural that could mark the Galician village of Canido forever. The documentary 'Bienvenido Mr. Banksy' is produced and distributed by the company Cuerda Floja Producciones and has Carlos A. Quirós in the direction department, in what turns out to be his first documentary feature film after a career in short films, who also writes the script with the debutant Antón Varela.

The director says that he realized there could be a story to tell when he learned of Hermida's attempt to call the biggest and most anonymous urban art star to mark the Galician neighbourhood with his mark forever altruistically. That is why the documentary focuses on the promoter Eduardo Hermida, a naive person full of illusion who has very clear the one thing he would like to achieve: to make history in the neighbourhood of Canido.

'Bienvenido Mr. Banksy' has received the award for best documentary in the 'Perspectivas' section of the International Film Festival Documenta Madrid.
