Beyond the Summit

Mateo (Javier Rey) is a climber whose goal is to reach the summit of the most dangerous mountain in the world: Annapurna, as it was a promise he had made some time ago. However, he suffers an accident, falls and is knocked unconscious. He is rescued by Ione (Patricia López Arnaiz), an experienced mountaineer who has moved to a refuge for the winter all by herself. She finally decides to help Mateo achieve his goal, even though she does not understand his motivations and it's a very dangerous path. Thanks to this experience, they will experience a very deep connection with nature and life.

This is the fourth feature film by Ibón Cormenzana, who was named as one of the young filmmakers to watch by Variety magazine on his debut in 2001 with the film 'Jaizkibel'. After that, he released 'The totenwackers' and 'Alegría, tristeza'. It stars Javier Rey, winner of a Feroz award for Best Actor for 'Fariña' and Patricia Lóprez Arnaiz, who won a Goya for Best Leading Actress for her work in the film 'Ane'. It was produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures, Aixerrota Films, LAZONA Producciones, Dorothy Films AIE, the French company Noodles Production, EITB, Televisió de Catalunya and the government of the Basque Country. It will be distributed by Filmax.
