Plot
This film, shot entirely in black and white, tells the story of a boy and his family in the late turbulent 1960s in Northern Ireland. Buddy, the protagonist, on his way to adulthood, faces a lot of changes in all aspects of his life, including things such as love and friendship. Until the summer of 1969, he lived quietly in Belfast, where it seemed that nothing bad could happen. In August of that year, a series of attacks and riots take hold of the city following a clash between Catholics and Protestants, who had lived in apparent harmony up to that point. His mother will be in charge of protecting him and dealing with the situation, as his father has gone to work in England to earn money to support them. However, in the midst of all the chaos and the search for answers, they will find moments of joy in music, dance and laughter.
Kenneth Branagh, director, producer and screenwriter of the film, has based much of the film on his personal experiences. The cast includes stars such as Jamie Dornan ('50 Shades of Grey'), Caitriona Balfe ('Outlander'), Ciarán Hinds and Judi Dench, with whom Branagh has previously worked in 'Murder on the Orient Express'. In addition to Branagh, it was also produced by Becca Kovacik, Tamar Thomas and Laura Berwick.
