'Before I Wake' trivia and fun facts
'Somnia'
The film was originally titled 'Somnia', which would have turned it into the third Mike Flanagan's film with a Latin word title along with 'Absentia' and 'Oculus'.
The butterflies
None of the butterflies that appear in the beginning of the film have antennae. After a boy draws antennae on one of Cody's drawings of a butterfly at school, the butterflies in the film have antennae. This shows how Cody's dreams are easily influenced by others.
Darkness for a while
"One of three movies directed by Mike Flanagan to be released in 2016, the others being 'Hush' and 'Ouija: Origin Of Evil'."
Latin names

"It's not a horror movie!"
The film's director, Mike Flanagan, has said several times that 'Before I awake' is no horror film; thus he refers to it as a "fable" or a "supernatural drama."
