Becoming Astrid

The story of Astrid Lindgren, a Swedish writer responsible for numerous children's books. However, she's most known for the creation of Pippi Longstocking. Astrid and her siblings live with their parents Hannah and Samuel, in the parsonage farm of Vimmerby, with a routine regulated by strict religious values. Even though, they manage to give them all a certain sense of security and freedom. In fact, they allow Astrid to go to secondary school, something which used to be reserved for bourgeois children, and they do not oppose to Astrid's decision of accepting a voluntary job at the local newspapers office. There she will learn how to revise and write journalistic texts, and she will also fall in love with her boss, Reinhold Blomberg. When she gets pregnant, she makes a decision that will change her life: Astrid doesn't marry Reinhold and decides to look after his son Lasse alone.
