Barren Land

'Barren Land' is the story of three friends. On one side is Mateo the Galician, a heroic civil guard, much to his chagrin. Another friend is Juan El Antxale, a fisherman who ended up becoming a drug dealer due to bad luck and is currently unemployed. Completing this colorful group is Benito El Yeye, an intelligent but resigned judicial depositary who always finds himself halfway between the law and crime.

Three friends who are separated by a place, Cádiz specifically, and by a moment, the present. The three find themselves trapped between the abandonment of institutions, the unstoppable and violent rise of drug trafficking activity in the province, and the dangerous increase in social discontent. In summary, they are three friends caught in a powder keg that will test their friendship.

With a script by Fernando Navarro ('Second Prize'), three big names from the industry embody the protagonists. Luis Zahera is one of them, known for his work in 'As Bestas' and 'El reino', both of which earned him the Goya Award for Best Supporting Actor. Karra Elejalde, better known for his role in 'Ocho apellidos vascos' and 'Ocho apellidos catalanes', is also part of the main cast, which is completed by Jesús Carroza, who won the Goya Award for Best New Actor in 2006 for '7 vírgenes'.

Albert Pintó ('Malasaña 32' and 'Berlín') is the director of this thriller inspired by real events that will hit theaters on March 28, 2025.
