Bambi: A Tale of Life in the Woods

'Bambi: A Tale in the Woods' presents a reimagination of the book written by Felix Salten in 1923. Now that the story is in the public domain, French director Michel Fessler decides to retell the story in the most realistic way. The filmmaker has shaped a real documentary about the deer with the narration of Mylène Farmer.

Bambi is a little deer who is born in the forest alongside his parents. However, the sudden murder of his mother done by some poachers will make the little one afraid of facing nature. Nevertheless, accompanied by his friends, he will manage to become the king of the forest and replace his father on the throne.

Disney created its own version of the animal in 1942, which is the most memorable one in the popular culture. The premise has led to sequels, such as 'Bambi II - The Great Prince of the Forest', released on DVD in 2006. Given the number of live-action remakes that the House of the Mouse has been producing these years, 'Bambi: A Tale in the Woods' promises to be the definitive version of the style seen in 'The Lion King' (2019) and 'Mufasa' (2024), leaving apart computer animation to present something truly similar to reality.
