Families have been hearing about the fearsome Boogeyman for centuries. Children are warned by their parents about the danger, and this passes down from generation to generation. The Boogeyman is an evil being that kidnaps innocent children to take them away from their families forever. Patrick, the character played by British actor Sam Claflin, barely escaped his clutches when he was a child, but that encounter left him with a trauma that he has carried ever since and that does not let him rest.

He decides, along with his wife, to move with their son to his old family home. Once there, Patrick realizes that his greatest fear is still present; he discovers that the wicked creature he encountered as a child is lurking in each and every one of his nightmares, threatening to take away what he loves most in the world.

This horror film has been directed by Scottish director Colm McCarthy. It tells the story of a father who, despite feeling panic, decides to confront his deepest and most ingrained fear that has accompanied him since childhood. But he does it because this time is different; now he does not have to fight just for himself, he does it for his son and for his family.
