Plot
Yvan De Wiel (Fabrizio Rongione, 'Two days, one night') is a private banker from Genoa who moves to Buenos Aires to replace the position of a missing colleague, Rene. The disappearance has occurred in strange circumstances, especially considering that Argentina is in the midst of a dictatorship. Through swimming pools, halls that remain silent and gardens observed, two bankers without accomplices, despite their differences, in an impeccable but discreet form of colonization. This thriller directed by Andreas Fontana, who makes his feature film debut after standing out with his short film 'Pedro M, 1981', is a journey into the heart of darkness in an oppressed, corrupt and fearful country. The cast includes Stéphanie Cléau ('The Blue Room') and newcomers Carmen Iriondo, Juan Trench and Ignacio Vila.
The script for this Swiss, French and Argentine co-production is written by Fontana and Mariano Llinás ('Paulina', 'Historiasextraordinarias'). 'Azor' has been seen at festivals in San Sebastian, Berlin, Brussels, Athens, Jerusalem and London, among others. It has also been nominated for the Gotham Independent Film Awards for Best International Film. According to the director and scriptwriter, the inspiration for the film was his own grandfather, a diplomat who switched to private banking.
