Asphalt City

Two paramedics, Ollie Cross and Gene Rutovsky, work in ambulances on the streets of New York. Rutovsky is a veteran and one of the most respected professionals in the city, while Cross is a young man preparing to enter Medical School. Thanks to his mentor, he will learn all the issues necessary to fight for the lives of his patients and maintain composure in his day-to-day life.

'Asphalt City' is the fifth feature film, the fourth fiction film, by French filmmaker Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, known for titles such as 'Carlitos Medellin', 'Johnny Mad Dog', 'Punk', and 'A Prayer Before Dawn'. In this case, he teams up with double Oscar winner Sean Penn, who we have seen in 'Mystic River', '21 Grams', or 'Milk', and Tye Sheridan, who knows what it is like to work under the direction of Terrence Malick ('The Tree of Life'), Jeff Nichols ('Mud'), Steven Spielberg ('Ready Player One'), and Paul Schrader ('The Card Counter'). Other cast members include Katherine Waterston ('Alien: Covenant'), Michael Pitt ('The Dreamers'), Mike Tyson ('The Hangover'), and Kali Reis ('True Detective').

After premiering at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it competed for the Palme d'Or, it arrives in Spain thanks to Vértice.
