As They Made Us

'As They Made Us' is an American drama film written, produced and directed by actress Mayim Bialik, known for her work in 'Blossom' and 'The Big Bang Theory'. It is her directorial debut in this movie produced by Yale Productions. It launched as a limited release in some US theaters on April 8th, 2022, as well as on streaming video-on-demand platforms thanks to Quiver Distribution.

The movie depicts two brothers, Abigail (Dianna Agron) and Nathan (Simon Helberg), who don't talk to each other. She is a divorced mother of two that, suddenly, has to take care alone of her elder parents: Barbara (Candice Bergen) and Eugene (Dustin Hoffman).

Eugene is slowly losing his ability to walk and the doctors give him less than six months to live, so Abigail decides to contact his brother Nathan to ask him to come back and help her with the situation. However, he accepts to talk to his father but doesn't want to with his mother, which starts a new fight with Abigail. 'As The Made Us' explores family problems and how difficult is to overcome holding grudges.

The shooting of 'As They Made Us' was affected by the pandemic and its release was delayed to april 2022. It was better received by professional critics than regular viewers.
