'Artemis Fowl' trivia and fun facts
Director changed
In 2001, Lawrence Guterman signed on to direct the movie, before being replaced by Sir Kenneth Branagh.
Changed characteristic
In his books, Eoin Colfer describes the character of Butler, Artemis Fowl's bodyguard and servant, as Eurasian. This is a heritage that helps him blend in wherever Artemis' adventures take them. But, despite this, director Kenneth Branaugh says he always envisioned black actor Nonso Anozie, who worked with him on Disney's live action Cinderella, in the part, and cast him as such.
Based on a book series
Based on Eoin Colfer's book series of the same name.

Mickey Mouse's known
This is Sir Kenneth Branagh's 2nd Disney movie after 'Cinderella'. He also directed 'Thor' which is technically distributed by Paramount Pictures but is part of Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe.
#Metoo pressure
Disney removed Harvey Weinstein as producer on this movie.
Previous collaboration
Director Sir Kenneth Branagh and Nonso Anozie collaborated on Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) and Cinderella (2015).
Commander Root
The character of Commander Root, the fairy head of the LEPrecon, is described as a broad-chested, cigar-chewing male in Eoin Colfer's books. In the movie adaptation, however, the character has been changed to female, with Dame Judi Dench being cast in the role. This is similar to her casting in the James Bond films as M, the Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service and Bond's superior, despite the character being male in Ian Fleming's books.
Known direction orders
Director Sir Kenneth Branagh also teamed up with Dame Judi Dench and Josh Gad on 'Murder on the Orient Express'.
What a joke
Eoin Colfer has (presumably jokingly) stated that the movie would be finished two years after he died.
